Sun and wind were there for this World Championship and the J/70 provided a spectacular show, this week in La Rochelle. Superb sailing conditions and a fierce competition have marked this week, which ends with the victory of the Mexicans on the Flojito Y Cooperando and their skipper Julian Fernandez Neckelmann. For the Corinthians, it is the English Simon Ling on the RAF Team Benevolent fund Spitfire who win the trophy.

The J/70 took this morning the two last starts of the championship. With a slightly cooler temperature than yesterday and a 5-10 knot wind around 300 for the race 9 and 260-270 for the last race, the conditions were gathered for a final day both formidable and intense. Two good starts this morning, and two shift in the wind during the race 9 that surprised even the best. A surprise on the finish line, then, since it is the Australian Steve Mc Conaghy on the Vamos who win the race followed by the English Little Louise and the french from Marseille with Elisabeth Vaillant on the Triskell. The favorites of the championship, who took the option on the right, were behind during the first upwind. Despite a great recovery during the rest of the course, they failed to finish in the top 10. The Relative Obscurity ended victorious in the tenth and final race of the Championship, followed closely by the Mexicans on the Flojito Y Cooperando that finished this Championship with a very nice race.

The mexicans on the Flojito Y Cooperando have performed a near perfect World Championship. Having taken the lead of the overall since the start of the competition and with only one race in which they did not finish in the top ten, the crew undoubtedly won the title.

The Italian Carlo Alberini on Calvi Network, Midwinter champion J/70 in 2015 take a well deserved second place in the championship.

In third place and after a fierce competition with the English from GBR 557, Tim Healy on the American boat takes the third step of the podium.
